It's Faith's birthday this month and she received a beautiful card and gift from Heguru Method! Love this Joy Cowley series. It's simple to read and Faith is able to enjoy the story with us. :) We also realised that Faith's favourite colour is Yellow! True to her surname 黄. When asked to choose a colour for her crayons or colour pencils, she always chooses Yellow! So there we have a Yellow squirrel - before she covered it all in Brown, our colour of the month. :P We did the sticker book today too. This book came with some word stickers. Initially skipped the words for the first few pages but decided to try it with her today and she surprises me by being able to pick out the correct words from a list of 5 words! (The helping word guide was in greyscale). And she's also able to paste the word the right side up. My Faith is growing up! :)
Thank God for watching over her growth and development! :)

Papa is concerned that Faith is not having enough for breakfast. Today, we tried to make breakfast a little more fun with a cookie cutter - a squirrel shaped one in line with the current homeschool curriculum. Papa helped to apply some Brown chocolate peanut butter on it too, but Faith only took a few nibbles. We tried to feed her Brown coco crunch too but she ate only a little. Haiz.... Week 38 - We visited Dr Paul today as Papa will be busy with some guests in town the next few days. Dr Paul is just back from his holidays and has a lot of patients to clear... Mummy's weight: 58.9 kg Baby E's weight: 3.2 kg Dr Paul confirmed that the second baby won't be early cos Number 1 (Faith) was late and that baby number 2 will be heavier. Looking forward to meeting Baby Edward very soon! :) Saturday - My grandmother & aunties came by our place in the afternoon to play with Faith. We had dinner together before heading to the supermarket to do some groceries shopping. Sunday - Our family wore white to church in support of our church and to affirm the commitment of Singaporeans to purity, morality and the institution of marriage between a man and a woman.
Another reason why we stopped at Everton Park was to buy some very yummy traditional Ang Ku Kuehs! We reached the shop before 2 pm and most of the items were sold out. The queue was short but never-ending! My mummy wanted to get the salted bean paste and coconut flavour as well, but they are only left with the traditional flavours of peanut and bean paste, which we got 10 of each. And they come at a very affordable price of 80 cents each! One of auntie assistant commented that many of the items were sold out as some office executives ordered online! We were surprised. Now having checked out their website, we saw that there is a very friendly online order form. No wonder the other flavours were sold out so early! Back home, my Dad shared that the shop opened at the same location just before we shifted. Indeed, the slogan on the website says "Making traditional handmade Ang Ku Kueh since 1988". (We shifted in 1989.) If you are into traditional snacks, do check out Ji Xiang Confectionary at Blk 1 Everton Park #01-33, Singapore 081001. Operating Hours: Monday to Saturday 8 am – 5 pm Closed on Sunday & Public holidays. Contacts: +65 6223 1631 hello@jixiangconfectionery.com Leaving the area, we saw some wall murals (along Neil Road) similar to the ones that Penang is famous for. Didn't really had time to take a proper photo but here's a shot that I've got. It would be a fun activity to check it out again in future... on a cooler day. :P We then headed to nearby Vivocity for some shopping. See Faith engrossed with the Duplo blocks at Toysrus. (The HarbourFront area is a nostalgic place for Grandma and Mummy too. Since it is so close to Everton Park, we'd spent many weekends of my childhood here. And according to Grandma it was almost MacDonald's every weekend that she's still sick of it now! Oops! :P) Faith having fun at the fountain area. See the cable cars in the background and Faith posing like a model... :)
Monday - It's shopping day for confinement herbs today and we all headed to Bee's Brand shop at Chinatown after breakfast. We had previously got the items at the same shop before the arrival of Faith two years ago. And she's now able to help with pushing the basket around the shop! :) For today's lesson, we did colouring and counting squirrels and acorns. As you can see, Mummy did most of the colouring again. Mummy cut out the boxes and Faith tried to match the number of acorns and squirrels, with Mummy's help. :)
Saturday - After having breakfast together as a family, we dropped off Faith and our helper at Huizhi Mum's place as Huizhi had to go back to Heguru Method for a Primary School Programme Seminar and I, as part of Family Life Ministry, decided to be involved in our church Marriage Enrichment Workshop (MEW). I went to pick up Huizhi after her seminar so that she can also be involved in MEW. Praise God for salvations during MEW. After MEW, we decided to spend some time together at Esplanade. Turned out to be a very choice. We were very well entertained by the free performances inside, outside and around Esplanade. You can check out the various upcoming performances on https://www.esplanade.com/whats-on/date We had fun watching Rakugo Comedy, Human Piano Performance, figuring out a real maze (Laberint III) and watching an entertaining circus cum art performance by the Croquiky Brothers from Korea. Rakugo Comedy - Punchlines 400 years in the making are brought to life as Western professional Rakugo storyteller, Katsura Sunshine, brings to you the art of Japanese stand-up comedy, sitting down. Laughs are guaranteed as kimono-clad Sunshine shares witty slices of Japan through dynamic monologues and dramatic stories. The Amazing Human Piano - An all-human musical instrument that will fulfill your wildest dreams! Play it like a real piano or switch on the “special effects” to hear different sounds and musical styles. You can even become part of the Human Piano and be played by others. Watch out though, this piano might just run off before you finish playing it! Laberint III - If you experienced Itinerània’s first open-air maze at Flipside in 2013, you are in for a new treat! In Laberint II, there are many paths, but only one exit to be discovered. Wander through a sea of coloured walls and encounter puzzles waiting to be unlocked or answered. Enjoy the adventure as you get lost in the maze. Croquiky Brothers - A drawing comedy show! Combining art, circus tricks and hilarious bungling mime antics, the Croquiky Brothers keep things light and entertaining for all. Sunday - As my parents are away for holidays, our family went dinner with my beloved sister after her last ceramic lesson at NAFA.
Dinner was on her as we celebrated her finding a job after being retrenched 6 months ago from an Australia Mining Company which she had worked 8 years in. Praise God for His provision and blessings upon my sister's life. This new job pays even better than the previous company. Considering the current economic situation, we can only praise God for His goodness :) As her good brother, I treated her to Nun Song Yee Bing Su after dinner. Thank God for everything and for this fruitful weekend :) Ps: See how entertaining Faith can be... Hahaha... She is really cute... :P
Here's what we did today besides the usual. We did the colouring from the homeschool curriculum. Faith didn't want to take a photo with her work so Mama had to hold it up with her not-so-smiley face. It is a little messy with some colours not in the correct places, but this is her work and Mama will file up and show her next time. :P
She requested for "dot dot" - with number dotting pages which Mama had printed from the Internet. We did the number 2 today. :) |
