The first month of the year has zoomed by so fast and we've come to the end of the first month of Mama school. Today, we did some flashcards in the morning, colouring and dotting activity (Letter w, which we learnt in Heguru last week. Tried to get Faith to colour a Red flower but it seems like she has had enough of Red and turned to a dog picture instead. I gave her the brown crayon and she coloured over the colour guide and then started drawing circles instead. Well, doodling is the foundation of writing - like what I always share with parents in Heguru, so I let her and here is the result... See her very determined and focused look. :)

The preschool Animal Train curriculum of the My Father's World (MFW) is rather easy to prepare and follow. At this age, the reading and activities have to be very guided but that improves the bonding time. (Forces Mummy to spend the morning time with her instead of diving into her own work straight away). Mummy does skip or change certain activities here and there but ultimately Faith has learnt the theme of the month: Love, Red, Rabbit.

​I find that it is very beneficial to repeat the prescribed stories and songs within the curriculum. Children likes repetition. Faith can ask to be read the same book like 4-5 times (always saying "more... more..” but sometimes it is mummy that says “enough, let's read another book”. Oops! :P

Repetition helps children remembers the stories and songs better too. Faith likes to point to a "turtle" that appears in one of the Rabbit stories she reads and she is able to identify the "turtle" in another book on animals. One of the songs of the month is Incy Wincy Spider and we have been singing it every night recently and she has just started trying to do the action together with mummy and asked to be shown the action too. And shadow play is what mummy and Faith does as she drinks her milk at night. Also thanks to Auntie S who got her a shadow book and torchlight set. We start learning Science (Light and Shadow) from young! :)

Such satisfaction and great joy to see her learning and growing well! :)

Looking forward to the next theme: Obedience, Black, Bear :)

Today we started the new theme on Obedience. Mummy introduced the words: Obey, Black and Bear. We went through the memory verse and read a story about obedience. We read a few other story books too.

Recently, one of the new words in Faith's vocabulary is "pose". See her posing below. You can guess that we are always asking her to pose. However, she's too fast for us to catch her nice poses, hence the blur images. :P

One of her recent favourite snack is roasted Black bean! Initially we were a little hesitant; not sure if she's able to munch before swallowing. Our worries were unfounded. The black beans were not too hard for her and she enjoys them - always asking for more. Afraid it'll be too heaty, we do limit her to about 3 per day. :)

It's a wet morning, so no swimming today. We headed out pretty early to meet grandma at the market. We got some groceries at the supermarket too. Sorry no photos here as the market and supermarket were too crowded with the upcoming CNY period. Prices of everything are increasing too.

Faith was tired out with the morning activities and napped straight away when we reached home.

Managed to do some activities after lunch. We did some colouring for a card, with rabbits and hearts. Did some reading (about rabbits) and playing. We completed the day with some alphabet flashcards upon Faith's request. :)

It's a brand new week! We started the day by reading 2 stories from the Toddler's Bible about Jesus love - of him dying on the cross and His Resurrection. It's a little challenging for Faith to understand now but she knows she has Jesus in her "heart".

We next prepared 2 heart shaped cards. With mummy's help, Faith managed to cut the straight edges of the heart shapes with a baby scissors. Mummy wrote the words "Jesus loves Faith" and "耶稣爱颖恩".  :)

Today's outing was to Punggol waterway point, again! We went to Rong hua bak kut teh for lunch and coincidentally met Ah gong too. Faith was glad; see her cheeky smiles as she try to manja manja with Ah gong.

We had the chance to check out the baby rooms too. It's all nicely done up. Quite a few spread out across the mall and on different levels too. Each room comes with a changing station, hot water tap and a lockable cubicle for nursing. There's a comfortable sofa with power point and ledge for breast pump too. The mirror within the cubicle makes it look bigger. I noticed a hook behind the door too for hanging of clothes etc.

Here's some photos. There's a bench for sitting or for your groceries/shopping. Also noticed benches outside the toilet area. Good for hubbies waiting for wives.

Faith had some fun at The Cove fountain area too. She wants to touch the water but afraid to go too close...  :P

And we also made our rounds at Daiso before heading back...

Faith is 19 months today! We woke up a little later today but followed our regular routine after breakfast. Besides the flashcards, we sang a song together and did a fun activity. Mummy laid out different red shapes on the floor and asked Faith to pick out the shapes according to mummy's instructions. Sorry, no photos for this as mummy was busy engaging Faith.

We read some books too. Picture below shows Faith holding one of the shapes, heart. I linked it back to our theme of love and took the chance to go through the memory verse as well. :)

After lunch, we went out to the mall. We went to the pet shop to look at the rabbits. We saw rabbits from 3 different breeds. Two of them were resting while the largest one, an American Lop (the one on right of photo) was busy eating. Do you know that the American Lop cost a whooping $1000! :O

We headed to the playground next and wanted to go on the slides. A pity they were wet from an earlier drizzle. We next went to the library and mummy managed to pick out some books that we will be using for our next unit.

We started the day doing some reading, flashcards and activities. We did some acting out of the rabbit story, like image training in Heguru. Mummy and Baby rabbit wakes up, hops out of burrow to find food and enjoys a meal together. :)

Then, we completed the rest of the Chinese new year decorations, all made by mummy. Ready for CNY! :)

With Chinese New Year around the corner, mummy decides to put up some bright and Red decorations to accentuate the atmosphere at home. We got one of Faith's favourite, Red pineapples, from NTUC last night. It was rather affordable at $1.50 for a pair.

What we did for Mama school today: We went swimming in the morning, did some colouring and Faith watched as mummy did more CNY decorations. After Faith's nap, we made a bunny-shaped sandwich for teabreak, complete with a raisin eye.

We had an exciting morning as we visited Daddy's new shops at Punggol Waterway Point! Today's the first day that the shops are open and it is crowded! Faith had fun running around! :)

Mummy tried to add in some learning content for our morning outing; take a look at our photos with the bunnies.

Faith was too tired out with the morning and had a long nap. We didn't manage to do much after that. Had time for some colouring though. You can easily tell which are the strokes done by her.

Mummy had been busy the past 2 days due to work commitments. Caught up with lessons today, read the prescribed reading books and we did printing today. Look at our Red hearts. :)

We had Outdoor Time today first. We went swimming. It was a beautiful day and mummy had the chance to point out the different types of clouds and watch them move as they were blown by the wind. Faith was too tired after the swimming and had some food before knocking out.

After mummy's lunch, we traced out rabbit shapes for memory verse of the month. Faith's motor skill is not there yet so mummy had to help her with scissors cutting. Mummy wrote out the verse and read out to Faith. We did two rabbits and will give it to Faith's two grandmas! :)

We enjoyed a story about Love and another about a hopping bunny. It was fun watching Faith do the actions as mummy read out the story. One of the activities was using cookie cutters with red play dough, but mummy thought we'll change the activity to something more fun - making tang yuan! The Winter Solstice is over but doing something edible is much more fun isn't it?!

However, Faith doesn't really like the idea of flour with water and mummy was doing it pretty much alone. Faith watched as mummy mixed the flour and water and also the RED colouring. Mummy didn't add a lot of colouring so they colour turns out slightly pinkish. We shall enjoy them for dessert tonight and Faith will sure get to taste it.
