Bernard's Ah-ma is from Penang and has not been back since she arrived in Singapore years ago. After attending a wedding in Penang in June, we've decided to bring Ah-ma for a short holiday there. Bernard's aunties went with us too.
Since there are five of us, it would be difficult to get around by taxi, so Bernard rented a car. A wise move. The roads were easy to navigate with our dear Mr Garmin (GPS) which we brought along for the trip.
And oh, we brought along our brand new Canon 550D and the results are what you see below... =)
Then, we headed to Queensbay Mall, the newest and largest mall in Penang. There, we had some time for shopping and dinner at Kim Gary' restaurant before heading back to hotel for our rest.
We walked back to the hotel and got our car for the trip towards the Batu Feringgi area. First visited the Penang Butterfly farm (20 ringgit per person). Thank God we reached the farm before it started to rain. We managed to catch a glipse of the fluttering butterflies before the rain chased them to their hiding places.
Next, we drove out of ulu-ulu land and had a delicious lunch of home-cooked food at a Chinese restaurant "Happy Garden" which caters to both tourists and locals. Food was reasonably priced.
Walked down the street the other way and stumbled upon this busy eating house. It happened to be a popular Dim Sum eatery. Thank God for leading us to this breakfast place. Dim Sum is served till 11am and tze char dishes thereafter. See the numerous traditional lanterns that's hung above our heads.
After breakfast, we walked around the area a little and sat down to try the well-known chendol and ice kachang. Personally, I don't appreciate the chendol but find the ice kachang with the Sarsi syrup interesting and unique. =)
We were there at an earlier time than the previous day and the crowd has not formed. We zoomed in to the Char Koay Teow and the Penang Laksa stalls. Tried Rojak at another stall which was much better. The traffic towards the airport was rather heavy due to the off-work crowd, but we managed to get to the airport in time. That ends our 3D2N Penang trip. Till next time! =)
