And with Christmas around the corner, mummy borrowed some books about Christmas too and we'll be reading them together. Tonight, we read This First Christmas Night and Faith enjoyed it so much that mummy had to repeat the book three times! :)
Maxed out the loan numbers for today's visit with 3 cards! We're at the end of our homeschooling curriculum for the year and mummy decided to borrow all the suggested books at one go for the last two units (on pig and koala). There are just so many interesting and attractive books for the piggy unit, but not that many for the koala. :P

Faith has been doodling for quite some time now and I've just started her on formal pre-writing activities to prepare her for actual school next year. Amazed at how she's able to have the correct grip so naturally without me teaching her. See how serious she is! :)
With mummy preparing for my group work and assignments for Masters course, home learning is still progressing, but slow and steady. This week, we are still learning about White and Sheep. One of the suggested activities was White crayon art. I let Faith doodle on the paper with a white crayon and we painted the entire page with red paint. It doesn't appear very well in the photo but mummy had written Faith's name at the bottom of the page.
And we continued our sticker book to learn more about shapes. Faith always love stickers! And we read the book Sheep in the Ship. Quite an interesting book with rhyming words and there is an easy origami activity (folding a pirate hat- the sheep were pirates on board the ship) at the end of the story and mummy did the folding with Faith helping to crease the folds. The first hat we made with an A4 paper was too small for Faith. Then we made a bigger one with A3 size and it fitted well. New topic with new books which we had borrowed. The new topic is on Sheep, White and Joy!
Other pictures this week: Papa and Mama spending time with Faith alone after dinner on Monday. Papa making funny faces with Faith.
Didi Edward is growing well at 11 weeks. We had a visit to the PD yesterday; with weight at 6.54 kg, height at 63.2 cm and head circumference at 39.2 cm. In the nurse's words. "He is off the charts"! Praise God for a strong and healthy Edward. His first jab went well. A little cry when the needle went in but all was well in a minute. :)
Our toddler Faith is learning so fast and well. And sometimes Mummy is amazed at how much and how fast she is absorbing. Some things are taught to her intentionally, some not. Recently, she loves playing with our mobile phones (well, like most kids do). She has learnt to press on the correct app for the right function. Like Gallery to "look at Faith's photos" or Youtube to "watch videos". We don't let her watch everything but more educational ones eg. Puffing Billy train after we sat on one during our Aussie trip or how documentary videos of planes taking off and landing etc. She has also learnt how to take photos with our mobiles. See photos below: a selfie and another she took of Didi Edward. :P For school, we did some activities this week besides reading about Tiger. We learnt that Tigers has stripes on their bodies. The thicker lines were drawn by Faith. She's very interested to spell and write her name recently too. Notice her name on the paper, which Mama helped her to write. :) On a side note, she's recently started calling Mama as Mummy too, sometimes. Cos the Mama calls her mother as "Mummy". :) Another colouring activity done. Mummy purposely chose this as we revised the colour "Orange".
We had a short getaway to Penang with lots of eating and shopping to celebrate our wedding anniversary. This time Faith jiejie went along with us. We stayed at a nice boutique hotel and enjoyed the nice food and personalised service. Coincidentally, we flew by Tiger Airways, just when we are on the topic on Tiger! :) For the first lesson back home, Faith gets to use the newly-bought jumbo pencils which Mama just got for her in Penang. After tracing the number twice, she started doodling on the paper. She is an expressive artist who doesn't like to be restrained. :P *****
Faith at 26 months is developing very well. Just want to jot down this episode for the record. Faith was on her way back from Heguru in the train. After a few stations, an "Ah Gong" (around her grandpa's age) boarded the train and sat next to Faith. Faith (without any prompting from us): Ah Gong! Ah Gong: Hello! F: How are you? AG (very surprised): Good. (shows thumbs up) F: Thumbs up (show thumbs up) AG: You are so cute. F: Thank you. AG: How old are you? F: Two years old (holds up 2 index fingers, cos she can't put up 2 fingers on the same hand) .... F(Getting ready to alight): Bye bye, goodnight, see u next time (although it's just late afternoon) ;P She always amazes us and surprises us with her development. She has grown up so fast and able to hold a conversation now. Thankful that God has blessed with such a sweet spirit to bring joy to the people around her. Yes, even strangers too. :) Went to the library earlier this week to get books for our new unit. Always love going to the library and then exploring the new books with Faith. Besides the prescribed reading books for the new unit on Tiger, Orange and Forgiveness, I've also borrowed other books to supplement our reading at home, including some Chinese books (not shown in picture). We've recently just started introducing Fairy Tales to Faith and she's liking her first story on Three Little Pigs. She loves the "I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll blow your house down". She just loves the repetition to the extend that Mummy or Daddy has to say "stop" or "last time ok". :P Looking forward to sharing more fairy tales with her soon. Little Dog Lost was a book we borrowed with the last batch. Faith still requested for the book after we've returned it and so Mummy went to search for the same book again. It is based on a real-life story of a dog which was lost at sea and was later rescued. And Joseph's Colorful Coat - a bible story brought alive with wonderful illustrations. :)
I thank God for the energy to continue the homeschool activities for Faith. As she gets more and more cheeky and vocal, and sometimes persistent (or insistent) on things, it does wear out Mummy's patience at times. Breathe breathe...
Here are some photos from last week's learning: 1) French toast for breakfast - lovingly prepared by Tita Irene (our helper) with a dog shaped cookie cutter, to be in line with our animal of the month. 2) Learning about colours - we have not used Dot markers in a while and I brought it out for Faith that day. She usually prefers to dot the colours as she likes but thank God she was able to follow instructions rather closely that day. (Still spot one yellow dot on the big blue square!) |
