One ah-ha moment for the evening:
Conversation between Faith and Gu Por.
G: Do you know who likes to eat corn
F: Faith!
G: (Shock, never expect Faith's answer or even a response) cos Gu Por wanted to say Africans like to eat corn.

Tuesday - Today's is Gugu's birthday and we've arranged to meet for dinner. We were on our way to fetch Ah Gong and Ah Ma from their home before dinner and we got to enjoy the beautiful sunset too! :) We had the dinner at Chye Lye Curry Fish Head Restaurant opposite Sembawang Shopping Centre (1 Jln Legundi, Singapore 759263). A place where we have not frequented in a while. Food is still as good. :)

Monday - We started on a new unit this week. Time passes so fast and we are almost halfway through the homeschool curriculum already! :)
As usual, we went to the library to borrow reading books for the unit. This time round, we went to the Serangoon library, which was smaller, and many of the prescribed books were either not available or out on loan. Mummy had to search on the catalogue on the spot for other suitable titles. In the afternoon, we went to the supermarket for our usual grocery shopping as well as to search for some Brown foods. We bought mushrooms and potatoes! Today - We did our usual flashcards, reading and then Faith did some colouring of the Brown bear. Saturday - We had a celebration for Lao Ma's birthday cum belated Mother's day celebration for all the mummies. The tradition all along is to celebrate Lao Ma's birthday during Mother's day as she just refuses to share when is her actual birthday...
The last time we gathered as an extended family was during CNY. Like during CNY, we ordered Hai Di Lao and added on some other specialties. All of us were so full at the end of the day. A birthday of course cannot be short of the birthday cake and the Happy Birthday song. See Faith having so much fun. She must have thought it is her birthday. Haha! Saturday - Faith received her advanced birthday present from 姑姑。And she caught her very first show at the Esplanade together with 姑姑, Daddy and Mummy! We arrived just before they started the warm-up activities. Everyone was on seated on the floor. Mama's belly is too big for me to sit on the floor. A good thing there were some benches by the side for Mama. As we settled down, the actors went around the floor area to engage the audience in groups; teaching them the "theme song" for sing-a-long for the actual show. It was a very interactive play, just for the children ages 2 to 4. Simple story line with simple sing-a-longs. See more photos in the gallery below. We went for a short walk just outside the Esplanade. The weather was cool after the heavy downpour earlier. Faith was enjoying herself so much she broke out in laughter! And we went for some drinks and toast too. :)
Our activity yesterday - we did some puppets of Lion and Mouse to go with the prescribed reading book. See Faith having fun with her puppets! She enjoys it even more when Papa reads her the book, with the puppets during bedtime reading. :) What we did today? We did some colouring. Faith enjoys choosing the colours and opening and capping the crayons. The worksheet shows some of the animals we have covered under the My Father's World homeschool curriculum. She had even more fun with the Do-a-dot markers. I initially got a basic set of 4 (red, blue, yellow, green) and later got whatever other colours I could find. Faith had fun dotting all the different colours. I like it that the names of the colours are shown clearly on the markers and it's a lesson on learning about colours too. :) The weather was good and Faith accompanied mummy for a swim at the pool. It started to rain just as we stepped out of the pool! Thank God for holding back the rain clouds while we were swimming! Faith's hair was a bit too long and thick for the hot weather recently and we once again visited Kcuts at Nex to look for Auntie Mandy. She's good and fast with children. Faith was initially smiling and waving at everyone before her turn but when she got seated with the bib around her, she started to show signs of rejection. Mummy had to quickly distract her in order to complete the haircut. Recent developments for Faith:
1) It has been proven - she has a powerful voice. During my last swim, which I went alone, Faith called "Mama" from our 10th storey apartment and Mama could hear her loud and clear from the pool a distance away. Mama is amazed! 2) She's able to search for the correct key to our main door from a bunch of keys, be it Papa's or Mama's set of keys. 3) She's able to recognise directions to places which we usually visit. Like the way from the NTUC supermarket to the lift we usually use. Thank God and praise God for the development we see in Faith! Amen! We visited the gynae on Monday and we praise God that Baby E is growing well in mummy. Mummy has been feeling lots of kicks and stretching in her upper right abdomen. Dr Paul confirmed that baby is head down in the LOA (Left Occiput Anterior) position. It is the easiest fetal position for the start of labour and helps the baby be in the smallest diameter to fit the pelvis.(Source: http://spinningbabies.com/learn-more/baby-positions/other-fetal-positions/left-occiput-anterior-loa/).
Mummy's weight: 58.5 kg Baby E's weight: 2.49 kg ("good size" says Dr Paul) :) See the growth of mummy's belly: Last Saturday morning, Huizhi had to go back to help out with a Heguru Primary School Programme Seminar as Heguru Method @ Fusionopolis is launching its Primary School Programme very soon. Seeing how Huizhi works on her curriculum preparation regularly together with her team, I am amazed & inspired by her passion for education. Some people may not be aware that the different Heguru locations in Singapore are run by different management and a big part of their curriculum are prepared on their own with no collaboration between the different centres. Driven and motivated by her desires to teach Faith and her students well, Huizhi is starting her Master of Education (Specializing in Early Education) at National Institute of Education (NIE) soon in August this year. After breakfast, blessed with a good weather, I brought Faith to the playground to spend time with her. See how happy and excited she was as she walked towards the playground. After Huizhi's seminar, Faith & I went to fetch her from work and we went Nakhon Thai @ Pasir Panjang to give Huizhi an early Mother's Day Celebration with her favorite thai food. Thank God, it was not crowded at this branch. Did not have to wait too long for lunch to be served. Happy Mother's Day!
Thank you to my lovely wife, Huizhi, for being such a loving and wonderful mummy to Faith. Thank you to my mummy, Lilian, for your love, support and sacrifices for us and our family. Special appreciation to mum in law Jenny, for your love, care and concern for Faith and our family. Love you all very much! Our families celebrated this special day together at Lai Wah Restaurant, 44 Bendemeer Road, #01-1436, 330044 T: 6294 9922 www.laiwahrestaurant.com Recently, Faith has been choosing some of the books that she wants Mama to read to her. Today, she chose the book First 100 Words. Besides reading the words, Mama spoke to her in complete sentences to describe some of the words. We find that she is able to speak in more complete sentences these days. "I want xxx." or "xxx, please." Counting wise, she has mastered 1 to 12 and we are moving on to 1 to 15. Yesterday at Heguru - Classmate Jayden celebrates his 2nd birthday and everyone got a huge balloon and a goodie bag! The balloon appears bigger than Faith. With Mother's Day around the corner, I received my Mother's Day card too. Happy Mother's Day to me! :)
It is wonderful to see Faith moving on to another stage of her learning. From just flashing the cards to her, to her picking out the cards, this morning she wanted to flash the cards to mama - and with style too. She's able to read out most of the words in this particular set of cards, including the "robot" which we seldom mention in our conversations. Mama is surprised! :) Her development especially in the aspect of speech has had a prominent improvement after her bout of sickness. Thank God for watching over her growth! We have not done painting for a while and we tried to mix blue and yellow to get Green today! Look how much fun Faith is having! Last photo shows Faith with her version of Starry Starry night. Hee... Faith's understanding is really well beyond her age and sometimes she displays that with a pinch of cheekiness too. Just last week, Mama was telling her "N-O-No" - No to having too much snacks before dinner.
And she cheekily answered "N-O-P" - listing the alphabets she has learnt. Mama definitely didn't expect that reply. Should Mama laugh or cry? :P Here's a glimpse of some of the things we did today. We did lion-shaped bookmarks. As usual, Faith required some help tracing, cutting and writing the bible verse of the unit. We did colouring of a Green leaf too. We thank God that Faith's appetite has improved tremendously - so much so that we had to stop her from eating. Like this evening, she had her dinner and finished a huge bowl of soup (equivalent to our adult's portion), had some fruits and still able to finish her bottle of milk at bedtime.
She keeps going "bite bite... bite bite..." Picture here shows her eating some of the alphabet biscuits which we got from Giant last night. It's such a big tin - wonder when we'll finish them. A good thing it comes in multi packs. :) |
