We did the dancing raisins activity. Ingredients: Any clear soda drink and some raisins. Faith was amazed at the bubbles that's gathering around the raisins and in the cup. We saw the raisins go up and down. A pity mummy used Jumbo raisins and we did not see as much activity as expected. We shall do this activity again another time. :P
Today is Chinese New Year Eve. We went to church in the morning as usual. We went back for a simple lunch and we had some learning too (in view of the CNY holiday). :P Too many cute expressions and Papa had to do a collage with all the wonderful pictures. :) We went home for a rest and prepared ourselves for the reunion dinner tonight. Faith is all excited. She's able to enjoy some of the food with us tonight. :) New pyjamas specially chosen by Papa.

We had our 2nd reunion dinner today with lots of yummy food on the table. Faith had fun too. We did not forget to have some learning too. See Faith with her Obedience Bear.
We had a bear sandwich for breakfast today, but Faith was too fast to tear it to pieces - thus no photos. After breakfast, we read some stories on bears and did a Bear poem too. We did dotting activity of the letter X which we had done in Heguru. Faith tried to do the dotting today, following the circles. Great to have this wonderful set of Do-a-dot worksheets shared by Erica via Confessions of a Homeschooler website And while Faith had her morning nap, mummy went down for a swim. Thank God for the great sunny weather and mummy was able to do a record of 8 laps for this pregnancy. Building up strength and stamina for the little one that's coming. We had an exciting afternoon and evening as we met up with Auntie Regine who's back from Ireland for the CNY holidays and also with Gugu too! Faith was tired out by the activities and fell asleep - not before mummy sang her favourite Phonics songs. We had a great evening over dinner and fellowship with our church caregroup friends. Faith enjoyed watching the fishes swimming and a hamster in the cage, and enjoying the cucumber strips which was part of the popiah party set. :)
We enjoyed breakfast together; bread and Faith had some Black raisins too. :) It's Mama school time after breakfast. We did some flashcards and reading, and mummy went through the unit's poster and talked about Obedience again. Today's prescribed reading is about a Big Sleepy Bear and a Little Sleepy Bear - an interesting short story with beautiful illustrations. It is a book of 8 stories that came as part of the My Father's World curriculum. (Link to the book: http://www.amazon.com/The-Margaret-Wise-Brown-Treasury/dp/1472323394) Looking at the activity sheet, Faith was supposed to colour one of the circles Black. She started off ok but later got excited and drew Big Black circles instead :P I just allowed her to have fun - as long as the teaching objective is met - She can recognise and say "Black". Got her to choose 2 other colours for 2 other circles and she chose pink and purple - and she drew pink and purple circles too... Our Surprise Time activity was Puzzles. The puzzles were 4/5/6 pieces each and Faith did need a little help from mummy to complete them. :)
Praise God! We are happy to announce that God is blessing us with a son. Thank you Jesus for hearing our prayers and granting us our heart's desires. :)
"For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well" Psalm 139:13-14 We just went for detailed scan today and confirmed that we'll be expecting a boy come June - Yes, same birthday month as jiejie Faith. We thank God that little didi is developing well. All glory to God! We had fun this morning with reading and hands-on activity. We also completed the unit poster on Obedience. Obedience seems a little too abstract for Faith; not sure if she really understands. Mummy will try to teach her through regular reinforcement throughout this month. For the hands-on activity, mummy replaced the cotton balls, which we used in last month's activity, with corn hearts (from Daiso). Faith is attracted to the hearts and more fun this round, looking for the Black Bears. Faith found the first 3 quite easily but Mummy had to help her find the last 2. Mummy had to be watchful as she completes this activity for fear that she may consume the hearts. On a side note, Faith really enjoyed the songs from the last unit and has been requesting for the songs still - Incy Wincy Spider and 小白兔 (which she termed as 小白小白). :) And we had black grapes after dinner. Look at Faith's many expressions. It is tough to choose one shot out of the many and Papa came up with the following. :)
We are considering some preschools around our area for Faith as we plan for her to enter Pre-Nursery next year. We visited one this morning and will be visiting a few more after CNY. Pray God grant us the wisdom to choose the right one for Faith.
After lunch, we went out to the supermarket to do some CNY shopping and we did not forget the theme of the month. We bought some black foods - black grapes, black plums and some raisins. We'll be enjoying these in the next few days. Yummy! A busy weekend indeed. Mummy had to be at work and Papa too, in the morning. Thank God for grandma and yiyi to keep her company and who also brought her for a haircut at none other than kcuts! We had our first reunion dinner for this year - Mummy's maternal grandma side (or Faith's Lao Ma). We are able to join in this year as the date of reunion dinner was brought forward. To save some hassle, we ordered Hai Di Lao. Thanks to my uncle who availed his place and booked the function room at his condo; we are able to try the HDL home delivery for the first time. Timing of dinner had to be delayed as the delivery guy forgot to bring one set of items - we had ordered 2 sets. :P See some of the night's photo below. Faith took a while to warm up and then started entertaining everyone, but her "battery" ran out quite fast with her running around and we had to leave earlier... Sunday - we spent the day's morning in church and then went to collect our Hamley's bear at Plaza Sing. Papa tagged an instagram photo for a Hamley's Christmas competition and we won a consolation prize! See Faith hugging our gift. So apt for this month's learning theme on Bear too. Thank you Jesus for the win! :) And with Milkcow Cathay so near, we went for the newest creation, Milky Churros! Faith loves Milkcow, what about you? We went home for a rest before heading to grandpa and grandma's place for dinner. See Gugu engaging her in a drawing activity. :) |
