Have been wanting to attend the Vienna Boys' choir concert for a long... time and finally found company to attend the most recent one here in Singapore. It was such a fantastic experience!

The choir on Saturday, 7 Nov 2009, consists of 20 boys. Loved the soloists; the most outstanding one was a Chinese. =) Maybe they had tried to include more Asians in this leg of their tour, especially so when the new album is entitled "Silk Road". Familiar songs like 高山青 and 弯弯的月亮 were sung to close perfection and earned strong applause from the appreciative crowd.

In the second half after the intermission, the choir managed to draw the attention of the audience by having 4 boys perform a short but cute Austrian dance in Austrian dressing (ie. Sound-of-music style). The conductor was able to get audience participation by having us clap along as accompaniment.

One word: Awesome! =)

Day Out 10/11/2009

By Hui Zhi
Finally some time to walk the streets of Orchard. Visited Ion for first time and spent most of the time in Prologue- the book store. Went to Taka and managed to get a pair of shoes for Bernard to replace his worn out pair and a bag for me.
Was deciding where to go for dinner and Bernard suggested going to Wasabi Tei. Have been wanting to try out the food several times but didn't get to do so until today. Was in the queue for about an hour but was truly satisfied at the end. =)

Hi friends, do you see the girl in the file attached below turning clockwise or anti clockwise or both? =)

Bernard: Can see both directions
Hui Zhi: Can see the girl turning anti-clockwise

Ever wondered what side of your brain you use most often ? well now the clever people at Yale University have completed a five year study and a simple test to help you work it out.  Below is an image of a spinning girl. If you see her turning clockwise you are using the left side of your brain and if you see her turning anti clockwise yes you guessed it, you are using the right side.

Now, if you can see her turning both directions, and obviously not at the same time you are a member of only 14% of the population.

30th August 2009, we celebrated our 1st Year Wedding Anniversary.

To celebrate this occasion, we got a room at Marina Mandarin (where we had our wedding dinner exactly one year ago). When we arrived, we were delighted to learn that the hotel have given us a free room upgrade as well as extended room check out. Praise God for favour.

We were a given a room which has quite a good view. Able to see part of Singapore Flyer as well as the on-going construction of the Marina Sands IR.

We went to Jing Hua, a chinese restaurant along 1 Fullerton Rd, to celebrate our special occasion. Thoroughly enjoyed the food there. We only have one word to describe the standard of the food and service there: EXCELLENT! Check out their website www.jing.sg if you are keen to find out more.

Skipped Sunday morning service but went for evening service. =P Managed to sleep in a bit more than the usual Sunday morning. Went for a hearty brunch @ Aqua Marine. Wanted to go for swim, but the weather was rainy throughout the whole morning.

Dear all,

Thank you for taking time to read our blog. So sorry for the lack of updates as we have been both very busy. Last Saturday, after Corporate Worship Practice in Sembawang and after having an early dinner with some of our church friends, we decided to go for a walk near Selatar Country Club.

The weather was cooling. Next to the reservoir, we saw many families having their pinic and some were even "BBQ"ing (using their own make-shift pit). Many were there for fishing. We stopped along the way to talk to an uncle who caught 5 relatively medium size fishes (edible). According to him, he just knocked off from work and it took him about an hour before he caught these fishes. It was good effort for him considering that this type of fishes in the market is usually sold for $22/kg.

As we were walking, we realize that the sky is changing its colours gradually. God is so amazing. He is such a great painter/artist. Check out the photos below. =)

Lesson 1:
A sales rep, an administration clerk, and the manager are walking to
lunch when they find an antique oil lamp. They rub it and a Genie comes
out.
The Genie says, 'I'll give each of you just one wish.'

'Me first! Me first!' says the admin clerk. 'I want to be in the Bahamas
, driving a speedboat, without a care in the world.'

Puff! She's gone.

'Me next! Me next!' says the sales rep. 'I want to be in Hawaii ,
relaxing on the beach with my personal masseuse, an endless supply of
Pina Coladas and the love of my life.'

Puff! He's gone.

'OK, you're up,' the Genie says to the manager.

The manager says, 'I want those two back in the office after lunch.'

Moral of the story:
Always let your boss have the first say.

Lesson 2
An eagle was sitting on a tree resting, doing nothing. A small rabbit
saw the eagle and asked him, 'Can I also sit like you and do nothing?'
The eagle answered: 'Sure, why not.' So, the rabbit sat on the ground
below the eagle and rested. All of a sudden, a fox appeared, jumped on
the rabbit and ate it.

Moral of the story:
To be sitting and doing nothing, you must be sitting very, very high up.

Lesson 3
A turkey was chatting with a bull. 'I would love to be able to get to
the top of that tree' sighed the turkey, 'but I haven't got the energy.'

'Well, why don't you nibble on some of my droppings?' replied the bull.
'They're packed with nutrients.'

The turkey pecked at a lump of dung, and found it actually gave him
enough strength to reach the lowest branch of the tree. The next day,
after eating some more dung, he reached the second branch.  Finally
after a fourth night, the turkey was proudly perched at the top of the
tree. He was promptly spotted by a farmer, who shot him out of the tree.

Moral of the story:
Bull Shit might get you to the top, but it won't keep you there..

Lesson 4
A little bird was flying south for the winter. It was so cold the bird
froze and fell to the ground into a large field. While he was lying
there, a cow came by and dropped some dung on him. As the frozen bird
lay there in the pile of cow dung, he began to realize how warm he was.
The dung was actually thawing him out! He lay there all warm and happy,
and soon began to sing for joy. A passing cat heard the bird singing and
came to investigate. Following the sound, the cat discovered the bird
under the pile of cow dung, and promptly dug him out and ate him.

Morals of the story:
(1) Not everyone who shits on you is your enemy.
(2) Not everyone who gets you out of shit is your friend.
(3) And when you're in deep shit, it's best to keep your mouth shut!
