We've discovered ant trails in our home recently. No, it is not attracted to any sweet stuff at our place; in fact the ants passed by the edges of the kitchen cabinets.

Spraying them with insecticide did not seem to solve the problem. We could not tolerate such creatures in our home. One night we treated the ants to a buffet: ant killer (the kind in grain form). The very next day, we noticed the ants were no longer around. Bernard then discovered the colony of ants below the shoe cabinet, all dead. It was a satisfying moment getting rid of the perished pests.

First day of the school holidays. Bernard so kindly agreed to be a 'parent volunteer' and accompanied my pupils and I to Keppel Club for a Go Green event.

The place is situated near Vivovity and overlooks Sentosa island. There we had volunteers who brought us to see a mangrove area by the side of the club. We had a craft session on flower-pressing and an interesting talk about birds on Singapore island.

Recently, Bernard and I had our dinner at the newly-opened food court at Northpoint extension with Bernard's parents. In fact, we were there about 3 hours after the official opening of the food court. It is by the firm behind Suki Sushi and Sakura.

It is a Japanese-themed food court with nice decor. A variety of Japanese food and snacks can be found there. The food comes in huge portions and is reasonably priced. A unique change to the usual food court but not one we can go often...
