Many of our family and friends were very concern about us when they read about the closure of Phuket airport on Friday and Saturday due to rioting. In fact, many of them advised us to cancel our plans to travel to Thailand during this period. After praying for God’s direction and guidance, we decided take a step of faith on Monday to proceed as planned when the airport was reopened on Sunday afternoon.

Updating our blog now in Phuket (JW Marriot Vacation Club), we thank God for His journey mercy and we would like to assure all our family and friends that the situation here is normal and peaceful with no sign of unrest.

Favour from God: We got a free taxi ride from airport to our hotel (Andaman Cannacia @ Kata Beach), a dinner and show at Phuket Fantasea in exchange for 1.5h of our time today @ JW Marriot Vacation Club to listen to their time sharing programme. Hahaha… What a good deal as we had nothing much planned for today and we originally have intention to attend Phuket Fantasea show.

Below are some photos we have taken so far in Phuket. Take care. =)

Angbao Counting 09/02/2008

After hearing how my two best friends spent several hours to count their red packets after their wedding, we came up with a way to speed up the counting process.

Step 1: Take out the money from the red packet, write the amount on the red packet itself and sort the notes according to its denomination. Put aside the red packets once you have written the amount on it.

Step 2: One partner will read out the figure on the red packet while the other will type it into a spreadsheet.

Step 3: Add up the figures written on the red packet using a spreadsheet. Using the summation function of the spreadsheet, you can add up the total sum very easily.

Step 4 (optional): Double check the figure by counting the notes.

Compliments & Complaints 09/02/2008

Food was our main concern when we chose the catering company & hotel.

Compliments
1) Catering Company: Delihub Catering Pte Ltd (www.delihub.com.sg)
Many thanks to Kelly & Team from Delihub for helping us during the food tasting and the beautiful set up for the tea reception. Many of our guests commented that the food was delicious and the portion was very generous. =)

2) Marina Mandarin Hotel
Food was good especially the shark fins, roast chicken & mango sago dessert (Huizhi’s favourite). Also, the lobster salad 1st course presentation was interestingly done. Ms Irene from front desk was very patient and helpful when we were settling the bill =)

Complaints
1) UOB Bank Officer who approved our credit card limit increase last week did not properly submit our request. Hence, we were delayed at the front desk while trying to settle payment and we had to rush for our flight. However, the UOB Bank Officer who assisted us in the morning over the phone when we were trying to settle our bill by asking for a temporary credit limit increase was very helpful and in fact he took the initiative to contact the hotel front desk when he could not reach me on my mobile (as calls have been diverted to Samuel earlier).

Our Wedding: 30th August 2008 09/02/2008

To start this post, we would like to thank God for the smooth flow of the programmes on our wedding day and for the great weather on Saturday. As most of you are aware, it has been a very wet week in Singapore the week before our wedding. In fact, the weather forecast shows that Saturday would be a rainy day. We were very concern as it would mean that it would be more cumbersome for our friends to attend our wedding. Amazing, by the grace of God, the weather in the morning was bright and sunny (exactly what we prayed for).

In the midst of our church wedding, in the afternoon, the rain came after all our guests had arrived and it stopped during our tea reception just in time for our guests to return home. On hindsight, the rain came in time to cool the reception area. =)

We would like to give thanks for all who made our wedding so memorable for us:

1)      Our family, relatives and friends for waking up so early on Saturday morning and taking leave a few days before our wedding to help us in our preparation and making the whole wedding so beautiful.

2)      Our coordinators, Edwin Tan & Michelle, for putting everything together and for coordinating the various friends who kindly helped us in every possible ways and looking into areas which we left out.

3)      Our pastors, Danny Han, Paul Lim & Anna Poh, was solemnizing and sharing the Word of God during the church wedding.

4)      Our emcees, Samuel & Helen, for doing such a wonderful job of making our family and friends so entertained and relaxed for both the church wedding as well as the dinner.

5)      Worship Team: Pat, Yuen Yee, Janet, James, Mingfei, Lynette, Yin Yoke, Jooli, & Nigel V

6)       Our band of brothers and sisters, Mun, Samuel, Justin, Mingfei, Judy, Regine, Sze Sze, Huishan & Freda for helping us in various areas.

7)       Special Items: Priscilla, Janet, Nigel, Noah, Meryl, Ariel, Xinyi, Vivian, Charmayne, Faye, Shiau Yu, Xin Chen & Jayler
