Our New HD TV 08/22/2008

By Bernard

Today, Courts finally delivered our TV after delaying the delivery by 1 week due to a lack of stock. However, because of this delay, they agreed to deliver and install our new home theatre system out of goodwill. The current sound system in the picture below was left for us by the previous owner. However, as I am quite particular about the quality of music and sound, I am thankful for the new home theatre system. Our new home theatre system will only arrive next week either Monday or Tuesday.

Today, Huizhi's dad accompanied us to our house to help us to:
1) Change the main lock for our gate
2) Drill holes to hang our wedding portrait and the water colour painting which was painted by Aunt Sai Gek all by herself.

Do drop by the Teochew Building this Saturday (23rd Aug) around 4pm if you are available. Aunt Sai Gek has 4 shortlisted watercolour & acrylic paintings on exhibition.

Below are some pictures of our house for you to visualize better. =)

Below is the washing machine which Huizhi's parents blessed us with. Thank God and Huizhi's parents for the new washing machine, fridge and rice cooker.

Not forgeting my own parents, I would like to also thank them for the 40" HD TV, home theatre system, iron, and blessing us with the finance to pay for the Cash Over Valuation for our house. =)

Our new Thomson Washing Machine. Don't understandestimate its size. It can wash 6Kg load despite is slim size. It is also very efficient in its water consumption. =)

Our energy saving fridge =)

Our cool high tech rice cooker!

More shopping 08/16/2008

By Hui Zhi

It has been a fruitful day. Went to Kovan for our brunch this morning and then to an electrical store, Goh Ah Bee, to place an order for our refrigerator and washing machine. We got a rice-cooker too.

Then, we proceeded to a hardware shop in AMK to buy a ladder and some small items. It is indeed in God's timing that Bernard changed his car just before our wedding. It is so much more convenient that his new car has foldable back seats. That's how we managed to get the 6-step ladder into his car and how we managed to ferry a lot of our stuff from IKEA. It would not have been possible with his previous car.

Went back to our new flat to await the arrival of our King Koil mattress. As we waited, we unpacked a little of the things we've brought the last time and laid the non-slip mat for one of the kitchen cabinets. Bernard did the 'opening ceremony' for the newly-bought ladder and fixed up the curtains in our bedroom and living room. Our place is beginning to look like a cosy home. =) More photos the next time.

Then we went down to Bugis to sign up for the MIO plan for our new home.  My previous contract with Singtel ends this month. (We're amazed by God's timing yet again.) To be eligible for the MIO package, I had to change my plan from the ancient Classic to iOnePlus and I got a new phone, the 6220 classic. That was also the reason why we had to go all the way down to Bugis; it is out of stock in many other branches of the Hello! Shop. The package also includes unlimited internet access and home fixed line, which we require for our new home. =)

My new Nokia 6220 classic which comes with a 5 mega pixel camera. =)

It is a phone with simple design but with all the functions that I could ask for and more. I will slowly explore the functions when I have the time to spare. =)

This evening, as planned, both Huizhi & I met to go and buy things for our house cleaning tomorrow. Having drove past Sheng Siong Supermarket (Serangoon North Ave 5) a few times before, yet never been into it, we decided to explore it this evening. However, to my disappointment, this supermarket does not have the neat and orderly arrangement which I am used to at Walmart (Shanghai), Carrefour or NTUC Fairprice .

Hence, after walking around for a while and yet not able to find many things which we want, we decided to cut short our exploration and headed straight to NTUC Fairprice Extra (Hougang Point), which is very near our house.

At Fairprice Extra, we managed to get everything we need for tomorrow house cleaning. Praise the Lord. To reward ourselves for the "hard work" of combing the supermarket lanes , we bought 2 boxes of D24 durians and ate them at home. These durians were sold almost at half price as the supermarket was closing in 10min time.

Below are some photos of our first shopping spree and us eating durian at home... =)

By Huizhi,

With 25 more days to go, it seems the days are passing fast. So fast that it seems a little scary.

"How's preparations?" is a common question we have been asked recently. I don't really know how to answer this question...

The big items for our wedding are more or less ready but there are still many minor details to look into, towards the smooth flow of the day's programme and to ensure the comfort and convenience of all our guests.

We've just got the keys from the contractor, after the changing of locks and minor touch-ups. We'll be cleaning up the house this National Day holiday and start shifting from next week. We'll be shifting gradually, bringing some stuff every time we visit. I'm excited by the whole process of getting the house ready. I enjoy going to the supermarket, getting the everyday household items and buying groceries. It's a habit I've built since my Hong Kong-China days and I do not mind continuing it now. =P We'll be getting the pails and broom and mop for the house clean-up, the very thing a neat little house will need.

We'll be going to the bridal shop again this Sunday to get the father's jacket and maybe bridesmaid dresses (if they are in good condition).

The hotel and catering for reception is confirmed, but we'll be upping the quantity for the reception catering as the numbers are more than expected initially. It's our once-in-a-lifetime event and we wish that all our friends and relatives will be able to join us. However, with the space constraint, it is just impossible. It is so difficult to draw the line, who to invite and who not to... It will be good if we can do something along the line of Fandi Ahmad's wedding way way back. Just pitch a big tent in the middle of a big field and invite all to the event. Haha! =)
